Have you been looking for a professional pet photographer in Austin, Texas?

Maybe it's me!  I've been photographing pets since 2007, so I might know a thing or two about working with animals.

:-) Jane

Q: Why should I bring my pet to your studio when I can take pictures outside?

  1. This is a distraction-free zone. No squirrels, strangers or other dogs.
  2. No weather drama. No rain, no wind, and no heat. No one has a bad hair day in the studio.
  3. No muddy paws . . . or faces or tails.
  4. The shy guys feel safer here.
  5. You have a cat, or a rabbit, or a bird, or a reptile.

I know that pets can be: grumpy, happy, sleepy, bashful, sneezy and dopey.

Get the reference? ;-)

So, you're thinking about having your pet photographed? What's YOUR style?

That's right, I said YOUR style. I'm creating photographs for YOU, so the images that you see in my galleries are not all shot on black or on white, or using only certain colors.

These are YOUR photographs of YOUR very much loved pet. They should reflect you and your style.

Since I've been at this for so long, I've found that dogs and cats photograph well against certain colors. Those colors often evoke a certain feeling or mood. What are you looking for to adorn your walls?

What can you expect during a session?

Barking . . . not from the dog, but from me. Does it sound authentic? Just ask the dogs who've been here.

Also, I can pspspsps like nobody's business -- not that the cats care . . . because . . . cats.

Q: But Jane, my dog won't sit and stay.

Jane says: Very few of the dogs I have worked with do! We're working with strobes, so I only need a split second to get the shot. It's perfectly normal for a dog to leave the set 15-20 times during a session. We just bring them back to task and eventually they understand. It's possible there is bribery involved too. ;-)

Q: But Jane, I have a cat.

Jane says: Here's what I do with cats. I let them be . . . cats. They'll let us know when they're ready.

Q: But Jane, my pet is black and looks like a black blob when I take its picture.

Jane says: Black dogs and cats benefit from lots of light, especially rim light. Not sure what that is? Bring your pet to my studio. :-)

Two black and tan Dachshunds with long fur standing side by side against a white background.
We had the best experience with Jane! Our dachshunds are adorable but very vocal and not the easiest to photograph—but Jane was incredibly patient, calm, and so understanding the entire time. She knew just how to work with them, giving them space when needed and still managing to capture the most beautiful, expressive photos. You can really tell she has a gift for working with pets (especially the loud, sassy ones!). Highly recommend to any pet parent looking for a friendly, professional photographer who truly cares. 🐶📸 -- Jen

I believe every pet is a work of art - whether they'e innocently looking up at you after doing something naughty, resting peacefully on the couch, sitting by your side or having zoomies in the backyard.

Well, maybe then they're more like pieces of work. ;-)
