Not all pets are suited for the studio. When you have multiple pets that you’d like to have professionally photographed, it might be best to have your session done in your home. When you have three dogs and two cats it’s probably not feasible to load everybody up in the car and drive to your pet photographer.
We started the session with the dogs. Of course we wanted to capture some images of all three dogs together, but where to do so? On the bed, of course! Vincent, Brody and Ruby all climbed up onto the bed, and we got to work. The original plan was to have them closest to the headboard, but they preferred to be at the very edge. They were intrigued by my barking and my duck calls. Retrievers LOVE duck calls.

Victor the cat decides it’s time for a photobomb.

She said to wait. Stay here!
After working with the dogs together for a bit, we moved on to the cats. Victor and Mia weren’t very interested in being posed together, which is typical of my experience with cats, so I just followed them around the house and hoped that they landed in good spots. They did!
Victor was rescued from a busy highway when he was just days old. Victor is also known as Pricktor because he gets into everything! He climbs on top of cabinets and eats the fresh herbs off the kitchen counter. Anything left out is fair game for Victor. I have a feeling his name is most often uttered in the house.
After getting some shots of Victor alone, I met up with Mia. She is the queen of the household and does not take any BS from the dogs. Her favorite pastime is basking in the sun on her cat tower.
Mia’s eyes are really amazing. They are a beautiful color of aquamarine with some red in the pupil. Very, very unique.

Those eyes!
The cats decided it was time to head into the sunroom where they each picked out their own window sill. There’s no better place to watch the world go by.

Bird? Squirrel? What did you find Victor?

Plenty of windows for everyone.

That’s the spot!
In typical cat fashion, they decided enough was enough, so we moved on to getting some single shots of each dog. Their home is so beautifully decorated and colorful, that it wasn’t hard to find good spots in which to shoot. First up was Vincent. Also known as Vinnie, Vinnie-Cent and . . . Linus! He is the middle child in the family and likes to do what he wants, when he wants. And what he wants is his blankie. 🙂
Next was Brody, also known as Broderden and Boyfriend. Come on, admit it, all of your pets have pet names too! Brody is the perfect dog. He enjoys going for walks, car rides and playing fetch. His mom reports that he is the best front seat passenger there is!

Does the blue wall complement my beautiful coat?
Last but certainly not least, is Ruby, aka, Rubs and Poobie Bear. She loves to cuddle right up to your neck and considers herself a lap dog. She also loves . . . ice cubes . . . and is best friends with Vincent.

Ha ha! I get to be on the furniture!!

Pretty in pink.
See you on the next dog blog. 🙂 jane
