We’re celebrating National Pet Day with lovely Willa. Isn’t she just adorable! She is a wire-haired dachshund and was a joy to photograph. She is nine years old, but she acted like a young pup during her pet photography session. She was silly and quirky and I just adored photographing her. So many expressions!
Willa is short for her full name, Willamina, which the family decided on in order to stick to Willa’s German roots. However, she wasn’t always called Willa. Willa’s breeder named her Kisses (which is now her middle name) because she is such a love. She is quick with her tongue and loves to lick anyone’s exposed toes. Did I mention quirky earlier? 🙂
Willa is also called Mina, Willa Bean and Willa Beast. We all have alternate names for our pets, don’t we?
Willa loves to eat, and anything left on the coffee table is fair game. Willa’s mom reports the story of a bagel left on the coffee table by the family’s four year old son. Willa spotted it and snagged it and in so doing, did some soft tissue damage to her leg! Thankfully she has healed and is no longer limping. Her mom hopes she’s learned her lesson but the lure of a bagel is sometimes hard to resist.
Willa loves to watch television. She barks at all the dog-related shows and commercials. When her mom first noticed that she did that, she bought her a DVD for dogs that is full of animals and animal sounds, thinking that she would enjoy the imagery. Instead, she barked herself into a frenzy! That was the end of the DVD.
And speaking of the end, we’ll leave you for today with one of Willa’s famous over-the-shoulder looks.
